There's one bit that's doing my head in, I tried it 3 times yesterday, twice didn't have enough speed and the third time.. it all got very messy! Basically it's the new pig chute which isn't really a chute, just a bloody steep hill, into another steep hill that you ride UP and into a kicker which pops you the last 3m or so over the top. If you don't make it you fall back down (well just into the hillside, would suck on raceday but it's fine for practicing and getting it wrong). The charging UP something so steep and then hitting a kicker just feels so insane, when I hit the slope all my suspension gets compressed, then when I hit the kicker it fires me almost backwards and I roll back in the air ('loop out' according to my riding buddy yesterday, who swore it wouldn't happen!)
I'm not sure how to manage this and am asking people for advice. At the moment I'm mostly thinking 'AAAAAHHH!!!!' when riding into it because it's so fast and looks insane, with a bit more practice I might actually get some technique and thought into it! I'm planning to go ride up that chute on the mt vic xc course over and over today till I get air out of it, just to get used to the crazy G-forces and how to best weight my bike coming into stuff like that....
Here's a High Quality Scientific Diagram of my dilema:
